ABSTRACT
The first Saturday night of each month of 2013 saw Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank return more completely to its former automotive glory with a 1950’s costume theme Trophy Night and Cruise-In. Awards? You bet: Best Hot Rod; Best Cruiser; Best Custom; Best Classic; Best Muscle Car; and Manager’s Choice. Behaviour? Very 2013 community conscious: ‘No Alcohol … No Loud Exhausts … No Burn Outs … No Kidding!!!’ Please, tell me it isn’t so! Hot rods, customs, and muscle cars are rebels with a cause. The shake, rattle and roll of dangerous Dodge doppelgängers is supposed to put the frighteners on family-friendly Ford Fairlanes, even more so if Mom and Pop’s 1958 wins Best Classic.
