ABSTRACT
The history of waste management is not new and the challenges will accompany with the human endeavor in the future. One way to prepare ourselves to take the challenges is to understand the dynamics and characteristics of the problem based on facts and real-time data. Smart technologies and resource tracking systems allow us to gather a high-quality waste data from various phases of waste management. This chapter brief outlines the role of smart tracking devices in relation to progressing towards zero waste goals.
