ABSTRACT

This chapter considers, in particular, the utility of the radical democratic project for a globalized age. Clarifying the various criteria proposed for cosmopolitical democracy, it assesses the parameters and resilience of cosmopolitical democracy for addressing some of the main problems that challenge the globalizing of democracy. The chapter concerns the significance of the open cosmopolitan conceptions of globalized egalitarianism, human rights and democratization for the project of radical democracy as unpacked so far. It explores some of the parameters that have been considered integral for global egalitarianism and justice. Finally, it would seem clear that the kinds of attunements towards the work of concrete social justice movements and micropolitical subversion that the radical democracy project stresses would be fundamental for the development of the ethical and cultural resources necessary for the effective realization of any globally oriented democracy.
