ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the importance of working closely with parents/carers in a sensitive and non-judgemental way. It discusses some of these differences and compare and contrast how families living in the developing world focus so much on education and why this is so important to them. The chapter also discusses areas of policies that particularly relate to families from other cultures such as the Equality Act, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Children and Families Act. Chambers goes on to suggest that recent changes to family structures and a growth in women's employment have had an impact on the role of families and the need for early childcare. P. C. Earley and E. M. Wski suggest that cultural intelligence (CQ) is the ability of someone to be aware of the cultural code by which individuals and communities live and work.
