ABSTRACT

Creating things is a natural impulse for most people, whether they express their creativity by designing clothing, cooking, or decorating, or as part of their career path. It may be expressed in something as simple as problem solving or finding creative solutions to management problems. Increasingly across the developed world, even occupations that have not traditionally been characterized by these terms are incorporating more creativity. Creative entrepreneurs are more likely to undervalue their time. Being fearless, one of Business Insider's listed characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, may also have a somewhat different meaning for creatives than for businesspeople. "Financially prepared" may also mean something different to creative professionals, but the concept is important to consider. While economic turbulence and declining job security have driven some to entrepreneurship, technological advances that have made entrepreneurship easier, lowering costs and other entry barriers have convinced ever greater numbers of individuals to go to work for themselves.
