ABSTRACT

I will make a few comments on the preceding papers, address myself briefly to some things that seem to be interesting problems, then conduct a general discussion.

Gould pointed out that good inspectors make more and shorter fixations while poor inspectors make fewer and longer fixations. A similar thing is true of aircraft pilots, even very highly skilled ones. There are important and consistent differences between pilots with 3,000 hr and pilots with 7,000 hr.
