ABSTRACT

For accurate scoring and analysis of the chart data, the examiner needs to understand the language of polygraph as well as natural and deliberate distortions. Homeostasis is a complex interactive regulatory system by which the body strives to maintain an internal equilibrium. Being able to recognize an examinee’s homeostatic signature for each recording is essential for effective test data analysis. In the polygraph field, homeostasis may also be referred to as “general tracing average,” “baseline,” “resting state,” or “tonic level.”
