ABSTRACT

There are two interlinking goals when editing audio. The first is to improve the overall quality of the listening experience. The second goal of audio editing addresses the content side of the podcast. The first thing to do when a podcaster starts the actual editing process is to determine whether he/she has all the pieces needed to tell the story. These may include an interview, music, an introduction, an ending tag and natural sound. Depending on how many elements he/she has, the editing process can become quite involved. Editing may not be the sexiest part of podcasting, but it may be the most important. It is the place where all of the planning, research, interviewing, recording and writing come together to create a podcast episode to entertain and enlighten the audience.
