Maritime security concerns in the Indian Ocean: countering piracy, trafficking and terrorism

The world depends heavily on seaborne trade for its continued existence, and undoubtedly, sea plays an important role in the economic and political affairs of every nation. Indian Ocean covers 20 per cent of earth, is ranked third-largest water coverage of the world and is possessed with vast natural resources, minerals, fish, marine products, oil resources and natural gas. So there is need to have effective and efficient maritime security to protect the Indian Ocean domain.
