ABSTRACT

At early dawn on this January day,1 as always, Donoban, a small compound of the Ondogou community, is swarming with men and women who left their villages during the night and have just arrived. They are sitting and waiting to see Ambainde, one of the most renowned healers in the region. Though past 70 now, he is as watchful as ever that everything is in order where the healing is to take place. Almost all of them have a chicken to offer as a sacrifice.
