Opinion Give and Take

ASSIGNMENT Your class will be divided into groups for what is called a “long table debate.”1

Here’s how it works. One group will take the affirmative side of a controversial proposition and the other group will take the negative. Each person will give a 3-5 minute speech for their side, alternating sides until everyone has spoken. Listen carefully to the opposing speaker who goes just before you and respond to what he or she says.
