ABSTRACT
Redistributive reforms by successive governments and collective action by different groups resulted in high social development in the state of Kerala. Kerala is commended for its achievements in many of the basic dimensions of human development.1 Today, Kerala faces a new set of challenges, such as dealing with development-induced displacement in what is becoming an increasingly urban society.
