ABSTRACT
This chapter explores some of the research that has tried to establish how music affects the listener. It looks at general research into music's effects (some even pre-dating radio), and then at more recent research into how broadcast music affects listeners. All of the research material in this chapter is presented as a foundation for the music moods research that is offered later.
