ABSTRACT

When an object’s angle changes, so do its vanishing points. This chapter explores how to draw various angles in three-point perspective. Objects can be rotated along a left, right, or vertical axis. Each axis is discussed and illustrated. To rotate an object by a specific degree, new vanishing points must be placed at specific locations. The steps needed to locate these vanishing points are diagramed. Measuring shapes in three-point perspective can be challenging, especially shapes that are at an angle to the ground plane. This chapter takes a step-by-step approach to measuring angled lines. The use of the Cartesian coordinate system to designate directions in three-dimensional space can be a helpful tool and is discussed and applied to several illustrations in this chapter.
