ABSTRACT

The orientation of the object being drawn to the picture plane determines whether it has one, two, or three vanishing points. This chapter explores how to combine multiple three-point perspective diagrams in one scene. In this scenario, no objects share any vanishing points; no lines of any one object are parallel to the lines of any other object. Each object has three separate and independent vanishing points. To create a cohesive scene there are several guidelines that must be followed; the three-point objects cannot be placed in the scene in a haphazard manner. If done correctly, combining multiple three-point perspective diagrams can result in a dramatic image. This chapter explains the rules an artist must follow when attempting this task.
