ABSTRACT

When the picture plane is not 90° to the viewer’s line of sight, the resulting image is distorted. This distortion reveals itself as an elongated image and is called anamorphosis. Anamorphic images were developed early in the history of perspective and can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. Some of the practical uses of anamorphosis are discussed, as well as instructions on how to create an anamorphic grid.
