ABSTRACT
By basing the curriculum of the continuation schools on education for trade efficiency Kerschensteiner thus achieved the first of his aims, namely, to 'further trade efficiency and, with that, the pupil's joy in his work'. How this egoism was to be converted to altruism will be shown in the following chapter.
