The Upton and N orth Elmsall Mining Dispute Infants Support Group The miners’ strike had entered its third month before our small group began to function. In our village we had one group giving food parcels to single miners and putting on one hot meal every three days for all miners and their families. Another small group run by Labour Party women put on hot meals every two days for men only in the Local Welfare Hall.
