ABSTRACT

There are different levels of responsibility for posting content on the web versus hosting content on the web. Regulations exist regarding cyber misbehavior, including cyberbullying, cyberstalking and revenge porn. Companies that are hacked have some legal responsibility to the customers and employees whose identities are compromised. There are laws prohibiting intentionally accessing a computer without authorization. Law enforcement searches of a suspect’s cell phone for information require a search warrant. Rules exist to make online content accessible to people with handicaps. Differences in laws in other countries impact Americans’ use of the Internet.
