ABSTRACT
Definition of leadership Dictionaries define leadership as guiding and leading, showing the path to others and taking the helm (Oxford 1989b, 2004, 2009, Cambridge 2003). A leader is defined as a person who leads others to action and is responsible for the situation. Brewer’s dictionary (1995) compares a leader with the first violin of an orchestra. Conversely, management is defined as managing, supervision, guidance and succeeding in doing something.1 A manager is someone who controls and supervises an organisation or a part of it (Oxford 2009).
