ABSTRACT
There is a chapter of this book which has yet to be written and perhaps it is the most important chapter. Its subject is the status of the Moslem woman under the law oflslam-all that we generally understand when we refer to the 'harem' system. I have already touched on this question and have given glimpses of the life of women in connection with the account of my various experiences. But the status of women is a feature of the Moslem social pattern which is worthy of separate discussion.
