ABSTRACT

Introduction The chapter analyses the research proposition that if co-evolutionary lockins enable a firm to control its external environment and dictate the progress of the industry whereas ‘vision’ offers the possibilities of path breaking, and a firm’s technological trajectory depends very much on the strategic interpretations of actors and their absorptive capacity, actors thus can lead firms to escape from organizational path dependence through co-evolutionary lock-ins. What lies at the heart of the generative process has important managerial implications.
