ABSTRACT
State socialism has been the most important challenge to advanced capitalism, both as a socio-economic arrangement and as an ideology. Its failure urbi et orbi was not accidental but due to internal dynamics. Its demise however, opened the door to the completion of advanced capitalism and at the same time, to the exacerbation of the latter’s internal contradictions. This chapters illustrates such dynamics by showcasing Cuba.
