ABSTRACT

M y father was a Conservative. He couldn’t even write his own name, so I don’t know how he could vote for anybody, but he was a Conservative. Perhaps he got someone else to vote for him. He was definitely Conservative. And his brothers, they were all Conservative. And all the children that are alive now, they’re Conservative. But we used to get a Liberal paper. When we moved to Gibraltar Gardens we had Lloyd's news paper on a Sunday - my mother liked a good murder story and I used to read them to her. And I bought the Star1 - that was a racing man’s paper, which came out every night. It was dead Liberal.
