An international perspective
This chapter focuses particularlyon the stages towards developing a psychosocial model in low-income countries, particularly in conflict-affected communities. The first stage consisted of visits, training workshops and the development of interprofessional networks, complemented by research, to evaluate readiness, community strengths and the need for cultural adaptation. This was followed by refinement of the model in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The six continents WACIT launch highlighted similarities in resilience-building for vulnerable children (in slums/favelas), orphanages, refugee or homeless). The six dimensions of the psychosocial model are discussed in detail in the following chapters.
