ABSTRACT

According to the traditional film and television production model, it is often the producer who is the driving force behind a project, whether that is from the very beginning or early on in the process. One way of defining the role of a producer is that, whilst the director is responsible for everything that happens in front of the camera, the producer takes care of everything behind the camera. The director of photography (DP) is responsible for the look of the work in terms of how it is lit, framed and filmed. The first assistant cameraperson assemble the camera in preparation for filming a particular scene, swap the lenses when necessary, and clean and take care of the camera equipment before, during and after filming. The other assistant cameraperson is responsible for the general support of the camera crew, which involves carrying and cleaning lenses, stock and other camera equipment and liaising with the production office and other creative departments.
