ABSTRACT

This second chapter on IT software discusses the micro and macro dimensions of creative knowledge work, identified as themes in the theoretical chapters. The introduction section in the previous chapter on the two methodological approaches of ‘co-configuration’ (Victor and Boynton, 1998) and ‘epistemic cultures’ (Knorr Cetina, 2005a and 2005b) and the microsociology methodological approach (Knorr Cetina and Bruegger, 2002a) apply here. Following the introduction, this chapter has the following sections: micro dimensions of creative applications of knowledge in the IT software sector, its macro descriptions, and observations and insights.
