ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter, it was shown that the knowledge economy was in transition, and there were differing perspectives of knowledge and connective dimensions that exist between the old and new economies. These dimensions can be investigated at three levels: a) macro, which includes analysis of occupational, professional, and industrial sector classifications, b) meso, which investigates work in corporations and c) micro, which examines the nature of work. This chapter focuses on the meso and micro levels of work in different contexts (revisited in Chapter 5 ) of the knowledge economy.
