ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the foundation psychological skills, skills that will help nurses' plans fall into place. Self-compassion is taking an understanding and non-judgmental attitude towards themself and being aware that their experience is not unique to they, but part of common human experience. Think of it like the first domino they flick that creates a beautiful cascade. Except in this case, things aren’t falling down, they are building up. A great example of a foundation psychological skill is self-efficacy. Awareness of thought distortions and pessimistic thought patterns can help us experience fewer downward mood spirals. Christopher was a project manager in a tech company and he liked directing other people, coming up with streamlining processes and problem solving. Self-compassion is one of those foundation psychological skills that will provide the basis of more psychological benefits. It can start a positive psychological well-being domino effect.
