chapter  3.7
The Value of Outdoor Learning
WithStephen Pickering
Pages 11

For learning beyond the classroom’s four walls to be truly valued, It needs to be considered by management, teachers, pupils and parents to be a fundamental element of every child’s formal education. It should be seen to be as normal a part of school life as teaching indoors. Teaching outdoors can be fun, stimulating, exciting and rewarding, and it can be all of these things without being seen as a treat, a reward, or a special Welly Wednesday (Pickering, 2017). We all appreciate the importance of creating a vibrant environment within the school to aid the holistic development and progress of the children in our care. Working outside the classroom expands and enriches this learning environment.
