ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 introduces the concepts around area of learning and developments and how these are interrelated and often interdependent. Each chapter has been chosen to represent every major area of development for babies and young children. The three Prime Areas, identified in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), are communication and language; physical development; and personal, social and emotional development. Therefore each one of these chapters, and the chapter on play and creativity, are discussed in more detail here. The reasoning around the holistic links for each subsequent chapter is explained in this universal chapter.
