This book has examined the constitutional value of sunset clauses. In so doing, it has demonstrated that sunsets are incorporated in, or their use is relevant to, important constitutional documents. It has shown not only that such clauses affect cornerstones of the UK Constitution (such as the separation of powers, parliamentary sovereignty and the rule of law), but also that concerns with regard to executive and legislative politics justify the enactment of such clauses. The study was presented in three parts: the positive, the historical and the normative.
