ABSTRACT

One relatively unexplored aspect of the dark triad personalities is their victims, who are not chosen by accident. The implications of the dark triad’s effect on them are detrimental from both the organizational and personal point of view, and therefore it is quite surprising that this issue has not received the attention it deserves. However, much more research is needed to provide more established data on the role of dark triad personalities in work victimization. The incidence of workplace victimization is relatively high and is costly to organizations. Workplace victimization is a particularly poisonous strain of organizational malice. It includes bullying, harassment, “mobbing,” and more. Bullying, is a major barrier to organizational efficiency and productivity and a major cost to organizations and to economies as a whole. Organizations are also victim of psychopaths as well victims of narcissists and Machiavellians. Employees working under psychopaths—and probably also under narcissists and Machiavellians—experience less instruction, less training, and less help from others.
