ABSTRACT

Organisational change, by its very definition, is about changing the way things are done. Anyone who needs to do anything differently as a direct or indirect consequence of change needs to learn what they need to do after change has been implemented. Classroom-based training is a rich communications channel, so can be used to increase support and buy-in for change, explore potential benefits, and answer queries. E-learning encompasses any pre-prepared and recorded training carried out via electronic media, including interactive training modules and instructional videos. Written instructions include training manuals, instruction emails, crib sheets, and any other written materials explaining how to do things. Floorwalking is when champions or super users visit users during and after implementation to check that they are confident in the new ways of working, answer any questions or queries, deal with any issues, and provide additional learning support if necessary. One-to-one support is very effective for encouraging behavioural change and focusing on wider cultural issues.
