ABSTRACT

While empirical studies of antisocial workplace behavior (AWB) in its various forms lend generalizability and credibility to the constructs, they may not address the specific issues present in a particular workplace. They do not plumb the lived experience of the employee who has stayed in a workplace where he or she has experienced specific AWBs, the narrative of that experience, or the nature of the staying. This qualitative study invited participants to tell the stories of their experiences, counterbalanced with the stories of why they value their positions, and why they stay there.
