ABSTRACT

God commanded Moses, saying, ‘ Cast the rod from your hand.’

Before the casting it was naught but wood; whenever at God’s command he took it up, it became goodly. First it was shaking down leaves for the lambs; thereafter it disabled that deluded band, ruling over the faction of Pharaoh, turning their waters to blood, so that they smote their heads with their hands. Famine and death issued from the cornfields because of the locusts that devoured the leaves. At last, as Moses considered the final end, there mounted up from him involuntarily a call to God.
