ABSTRACT
On hearing this story Muhammad’s heart dilated with joy. ‘Now what is the remedy?’ he asked Abu Bakr. ‘This servant of God will purchase him,* Abu Bakr replied.
‘1*11 buy him at whatever price the Jew demands. I’ ll not consider the apparent loss and the extortion. Bilal has become God’s captive on the earth; he is at the mercy of the rage of God’s enemy.*
‘Seeker after felicity, I will be your partner in this trans action,* said Muhammad. ‘You act as my agent. Buy a half share for me, and recover the price from me afterwards.’
