ABSTRACT

Fate decreed that Hilal should fall sick and go into a decline. Muhammad was privily apprised of his condition by inspiration, whereas his master was quite unaware of his sick ness ; in any case he attached little value or importance to him. For nine days that virtuous man lay alone in the stable, no one noticing his plight. But inspiration descended upon him who was a very emperor of men, whose mind like a hundred seas was reaching out to every place. The compassion of God had pity on Hilal and told the Prophet, ‘ So-and-so, who yearns after you, has fallen sick.’
