ABSTRACT

It was still high morning when the Sufi knocked peremp torily at the door. The guilty pair were at their wits’ end how to contrive a way out. It was most unusual for the husband to repair homewards from his shop at such an hour; but that day, being alarmed, he had purposely returned home untimely, for he had a suspicion that something was afoot. The wife for her part had felt perfectly confident, since he had never come home from work at such a time.
