ABSTRACT

Color correction is perhaps the most important effect in FCP. Despite its simplicity, it's a powerful tool with professional features. This chapter looks at the tools for color correction in FCP starting with working with the video scopes for manual correction and using them to work with the controls in the Color Board. It shows how to white balance clips and to fix a number of common color correction problems. The Broadcast Safe effect was used to keep video from exceeding legal luminance levels. The chapter explores the automatic Balance Color function and the Match Color function to make two clips have the same color and tonal quality. It works with the preset Looks to create special visual effects. The chapter shows the power of FCP's multiple secondary correction tools, including the extraordinary control of shape and color masks.
