ABSTRACT

FCP has several different ways to do most of the editing functions, some of which will be familiar to iMovie users. This chapter utilizes to learn how to use the editing tools that move clips into the Timeline: the Append edit, to add the end of the Timeline; the Insert edit and to push a clip into the storyline to make room for itself. It also includes the Connect edit, to attach a clip to the primary storyline; the Overwrite edit, to punch into the storyline; and the Replace edit to change a shot in the Timeline. The chapter also utilizes drag and drop, the buttons, and the keyboard shortcuts. It shows how to edit video and audio independently, and how to use Audition as a replace function to try out different clips. Finally, the chapter looks at working with transitions in FCP.
