ABSTRACT

Final Cut Pro has considerable capabilities for animating images, allowing you to move them around the screen, resize, crop, rotate, and distort them at will. All of these properties can be animated, which allows you to enhance your productions and create exciting, interesting, and artistic scenes. This chapter looks at Final Cut Pro's animation capabilities. It uses the Transform function to Scale, Rotate, and Position the image. The chapter also looks at Anchor Point behavior and how it affects an image's motion. It crops the image using the Trim function to resize the image, the Crop function to reframe the clip, and the Ken Burns feature to create simple animations. The chapter distorts the image, and then animated it on the screen, in both straight and curved motion paths. It discusses making basic motion effects like split screens. Finally, the chapter explores the problems of motion control across large format images.
