ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the ways women lead in non-state armed groups. While the findings on women’s participation in rank-and-file roles developed in the previous chapters provide useful insights that may carry forward into the present analysis, it is also worth noting the ways in which the actions of leaders differ from those of rank-and-file insurgents in theory and in practice.
