ABSTRACT

The conflict in Syria, now in its sixth year, is among the worst in a generation. The human suffering – most notably seen in refugees and IDPs – has received extensive attention around the world. Yet, solutions remain elusive. This book has examined how Syria’s neighbors are dealing with large numbers of refugees, and how the international humanitarian community continues to respond to refugees and IDPs. It has also looked at the EU and US responses to Syrian refugees. This concluding chapter draws these complex situations together and relates them to deeper questions. It also provides some policy guidance on a situation that is changing the political and humanitarian landscape for years to come.
