ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to provide a broad overview of the clinical picture of visual agnosia, and its relation to other visual processing disorders. From this picture, I propose a multi-stage account o f visual object recognition which helps to structure the various clinical aspects of agnosia, and to provide a framework for the cases discussed in the following chapters.
