ABSTRACT

The activities for culture and diversity focus on enriching members' understanding and acceptance of the various components of their personal identities and those of others, illustrating how they can be strengths, and extending them to better interact and relate to others. The activities for group-level problems and concerns focus on conflict and conflict resolution, resistance, transference, and projections, as these can negatively affect the group's process and progress. This chapter presents a rationale and the benefits for planned group closure whether on the member or group level and the strategies and activities for open groups and premature termination by one or more group members. The final section of activities relates to the importance of closure for the group and the constraints and/or variables that may impact closure, such as premature termination and whether the group is a closed or open group.
