ABSTRACT

The activities and handouts have been used in several groups: specifically, adolescents confronting relationship issues, as well as an emotional conflict from a family crisis, such as divorce, separation, blending of step-families, and death of a family member. These activities may be completed in group therapy or in individual/family therapy. The readership has permission to use and revise the activities to better address the goals and needs of the group. Usage of creative techniques has easily expanded to groups and families. Thus, the activities herein are designed to include handouts, videos, and photos from the Internet to stimulate learning and self-reflection. The purpose of this exercise is for group members to identify themselves from a list of characters, or, specifically, toys. This exercise can be used in initial stages of group development, in order for group members to get to know each other better, but can also be replicated in transitional/working stages of group development to note and validate changes.
