ABSTRACT

As we look at our world comprising large and small constructs in various social positions, the distinction between our perception and reality can become easily confused. As the Babbie example (2002) describes, a snapshot of a book may be taken in several dierent positions and perspectives: resting on a table with its pages open, standing upright on a bookshelf, lying closed and at on a desk, or piled up among other books and objects-which is the real book? Is it a matter of one’s perception, or is it a matter of varying positions of the same thing?
