ABSTRACT

Meso level case studies are typically concerned with comparisons of organisations. These could be government organisations, like regional or local governments, or private companies. The first case study in this chapter examines social and health care for older people in London boroughs. The first year applied to the case study is 2010. It examines social and health care for older people in London boroughs. This meso local government DPS case study has already revealed a difficulty with identifying a meaningful conceptualisation of larger clusters and that smaller clusters of London boroughs are likely to have more homogeneity and meaningful social explanation when related to variable scores. The meso case study is characterised by a relative lack of stability in cluster membership. A large number of cases move clusters during the short time period studied. Future research and the possible plotting of QCA outcome variables could include relative inequality of income, wealth and household and family structure variables.
