ABSTRACT

This chapter marks the authors' own creative journey from home into work and endorses the idea that children and adults make this journey together, as the following statement declares: Young people's creative abilities are most likely to be developed in an atmosphere in which teachers' creative abilities are properly engaged. Positive emotional experiences are important in encouraging development in babies and young children, and positive emotions help us build up reserves and resilience for the future. The chapter adopts ideas from interactive music therapy. Interactive music develops play, sensory exploration, motor skills and a learner's ability to communicate. It emphasises the importance of relationships within the social context of learning. The facilitator acts as a more able partner, encouraging learning and communication through interactions or conversations. The chapter uses music as a tool for communication.
